Back from ICNS in South Korea

In the last week, I have been in South Korea, to participate in the International Conference for Neutron Scattering. It was held in the outskirts of Daejeon, a large city a few hour by train South of the capital, Seoul.

I was lucky enough to get a 7 hour layover in Helsinki, Finland, on the way over - and I spent a few hours in the city center. I had time to explore a beautiful park, as well as a World Heritage Site: the island Suomenlinna. It was an amazing little trip - my first time in Finland at all - and I hope I will be able to return here again.

Once again, as usual, I ended up only getting a poster instead of a talk - but I, myself, think that I made a really great poster for it. I ended up receiving one of the "Best Poster" awards on the last day of the conference, which made me extremely proud! I also managed to talk with a few people over the poster session, and got some well-meaning words for my project along the way (not that I got much new knowledge, but at least it made me feel a little better about my project!)

My poster, with my phone on it to show some of my data as videos

I got to talk to a lot of people during the poster session, it was great!

We were 12 people, out of a total of ???? posters, that got poster prices

???? afternoon, we got to go visit the ???? neutron source, where they are currently re-building the ????. It was very interesting, especially because we got to go into the bunker where the neutron guides came out from the moderator - you don't get to go there often!

???? evening, we had the conference dinner, and the entertainment was superb. They had hired a Nanta???? group from Seoul, and they did a lot of different acts with music, kitchen utensils (tossing around knifes and plates!), and plenty of humor - all without talking.
